Module 06 · L04 · Build something useful

From idea to digital solution

Understand how to turn a problem into an application or tool with AI support.

Building Software With AI12 hours6 sessions of 2 hours

The topics, in plain language

  1. 01

Full stack: the parts of a solution

The interface is what people use. The logic applies the rules. The data layer stores the information.

  2. 02

    Building with AI

Turn a need into requirements and guide the build in small steps.

  3. 03

    Docker: an organised environment

A way to package an application and the components needed to run it.

  4. 04

    VPS and deployment

A server is where an application runs. Deployment puts a version there so people can use it.

  5. 05

    DNS and HTTPS

DNS points an address to where a service lives. HTTPS protects the connection while people use it.

Why it matters

You learn to guide how a solution gets built and to talk about its parts with confidence. The focus is on linking what users need to how the solution works and how it goes live.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe a problem and the core function of a solution.
  • Recognise the interface, logic and data in an application.
  • Explain the basic steps between prototype and deployment.

An everyday example

Design a request tracker: a screen to submit requests, rules that track their status and a database that stores the records.

How to apply it

  1. Choose a problem and define the smallest useful solution.
  2. Sketch the screen and describe the required rules and data.
  3. Build and test a simple version in a guided lab.

Your first application

Fill in the blanks with your own work. This is the deliverable you take out of the module.

Materials

Scope worksheet; screen and data map; testing and deployment checklist.
